Welcome to Mrs. Perry’s Fourth Grade Class! Room 209
Welcome back to school! I am extremely happy to have your child in my class this year. Please read the important information below and keep this letter for future reference.
About Me: This is my fourteenth year of teaching! I have three grown children, two granddaughters and an awesome husband! I also have two fur-babies (Havanese dogs) that love to give kisses and snuggle. I enjoy gardening, trying new things and meeting new people!
Monday Folders: This VERY important folder is sent home every Monday and contains information from myself or the school. Please help your child return this folder EVERY Monday.
Scholastic Book Orders: An order form from Scholastic will be sent home monthly. This is a great way to purchase quality books at a reasonable price. Also, the more books your purchase the more points we receive to purchase great books for classroom use. The order form will come home in your child’s Monday Folder. Be sure to check out return dates. If you are interested in ordering online a code will also be noted on the form for your convenience.
Library/Media: Our library day is Thursday. Books must be returned the day before Media for your child to check out a new book.
Music: We have music on Thursday and Friday.
P.E.: We attend P.E. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Thank you for sending your child in appropriate footwear on these days.
Homework: Since we work so hard in school, I will not be sending regular homework home for your child to complete. I want to emphasis family-time while your child is at home. 😊 (Have dinner and a discussion, take a walk, play a board game!)
**Occasionally, your child will be given special projects to complete. If a special project is coming home, I will email you to let you know. Please make sure we have your most recent email. (One that you check frequently) Also, as we move through the year if your child needs additional practice on a specific skill, I will contact you via email and send this work home in your child’s Monday folder.
Snacks: Since we have such a late lunch, at 12:50 p.m., students may bring a peanut-free healthy snack that they may eat during our morning break. Thank you for sending a healthy snack to help your child get through the morning.
Birthdays: Due to the number of food allergies we will not be celebrating birthdays with snacks. We will, however, sing Happy Birthday to your child at the end of the day. Thank you for keeping your child’s birthday celebrations during non-school time. 😊
Clothing: As the seasons change please make sure your child has a jacket or coat to wear. We go outside for recess everyday unless it is pouring down rain, so please help your child to be prepared.
Field trips: Once field trips are scheduled, permission slips and information will come home for parents to sign. Parent volunteers will be needed to schedule field trips so please let me know if you are interested.
Parent Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering in your child’s classroom or for field trips please let me know. I know many of you work, but if you have time to grade papers or prep materials for our class at home it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to have some additional help! If you have questions about this, please let me know. Check with the office and make sure you have a current Volunteer Background Check completed if you wish to volunteer.
School Hours: Students may enter the building at 8:55 a.m. for breakfast. The final bell is at 9:15 a.m. Please help your child to be in their classroom no later than 9:10 a.m. so they may organize themselves for the day. Students are expected to be in their seat when the bell rings, so they are not counted as tardy.
Attendance: It is VERY important that your child is at school on-time and daily. Please try to schedule appointments after school or during the days your child does not have school.
Early Check-Out If you need to pick up your child early for an appointment, please stop by the office. Please keep early check-outs to a minimum as we are learning ALL DAY & I would hate for your child to miss out on any special events or projects that might be taking place! J
Illness: If your child is sick and will not be at school please let the office know by calling:
503-399-2062.
End of the Day: School ends at 3:30 p.m., if your child is being picked up please discuss ahead of time a meeting place, and who will be picking them up and where.
***A note or email from an adult is required if there is a change in where your child will be going after school. For your child’s safety, I will not accept a verbal, “but my mom told me too!” J
Questions: Feel free to call or email me if you have questions or concerns. I will reply to calls and emails after school.

Finally: Thank you for your support!
